Requirements:
These are minimum necessary requirements for applying to Psychology Graduate programs.


CGPA: MA: Minimum 2.80 over 4.00 (undergraduate) or 70%  Ph.D: Minimum 3.00 over 4.00 (undergraduate) or 75%


ALES:
MA: 60 (equally-weighted)
Ph.D: (with a Masters degree with thesis): 60 (equally-weighted)
Ph.D: (with an undergraduate degree): 80 (equally-weighted)


GRE:
M.A: Minimum 302 points (total of verbal and quantitative exam scores) and 3.5 on the analytic writing.
Ph.D (with a Masters degree with thesis): Minimum 302 points (total of verbal and quantitative exam scores) and 3.5 on the analytic writing.
Ph.D (with an undergraduate degree with thesis): Minimum 312 points (total of verbal and quantitative exam scores) and 4.0 on the analytic writing part.

Foreign candidates and citizens of the Republic of Turkey who have completed their entire undergraduate education abroad can also apply with the result of Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or another written exam, instead of ALES, with the decision of the relevant EYK (Institute Board of Directors).

ALES and GRE scores are valid for 5 years.


English Proficiency: MA and Ph.D.: TOEFL IBT (at least 87), IELTS (at least 6.5 average and 5.5 from each section) or Proficiency in Academic English Exam (PAE) (at least C).

If you submit IELTS or Bilkent English Proficiency Exam results and you are applying for a PhD program, you also need to satisfy the foreign language requirement as imposed by the Inter-Universities Board (ÜAK) of Turkey. In that case, a minimum of 55 from YDS or its equivalents as listed by the Board, in a language other than the mother tongue must be submitted.

Validity period for all exams: 2 years


Proof of Degree: Bachelors’ or Masters’ degree


Transcripts: All that are available (Undergraduate and/or Masters’ transcripts)


Statement of Purpose: A letter describing past research experience or any other relevant experience, academic achievements, research interests, faculty members you are interested in working with, and motivations for applying for the program (Word limit: 600 to 800 words, double-spaced)


Letters of Recommendation: Three letters [completed online by referee]


Writing sample (optional): A sample essay in English (e.g., senior thesis project, term paper, etc.).


Other: Curriculum Vitae [uploaded]
