Prof. Şefik Süzer, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, has been named a Fellow of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) for; "his significant contributions to the understanding of electronic structure of atoms, molecules and surfaces using photoelectron spectroscopy." This Fellowship recognizes AVS members who have made sustained and outstanding scientific and technical contributions in areas of interest to AVS. The award will be presented at the Symposium in New Mexico on October 20, 2010. AVS, with its international members reaching 5000, is a nonprofit organization that encourages communication, education and networking in the application of vacuum and other controlled environments to develop new technologies.
