İhsan Doğramacı Foundation is founded in 1951 under the title İhsan Doğramacı Establishment (Tr. tesis). With a change in the Civil Code in 1967, the term “establisment” has become “foundation”.
The foundation, in its first years, has contributed financially to the development of Hacettepe Children’s Health Institute, and later to Hacettepe University, both of which are built at Hacettepe site in Ankara. During this period, social service studies have been done in shanty towns in particular. The main objective of the foundation is to establish, support, develop and pursue institutions of education and research at every level.
In order to realize its objectives the foundation acts in close collaboration with İhsan Doğramacı Health Foundation, İhsan Doğramacı Education Foundation, and İhsan Doğramacı Science and Research Foundation, all of which are founded by İhsan Doğramacı alike. Those three have founded Bilkent University. İhsan Doğramacı Foundation has also been supporting the development of education and research activity of the university.
Today, İhsan Doğramacı Foundation also supports the domestic educational services given by the university.
