SHARP Seminar: “25 Kasım Kadına Yöneli̇k Şi̇ddete Karşı Uluslararası Mücadele Günü”, Selda Taşdemir Afşar, 12:30Noon November 25 2024 (TR)

We are aware, we can prevent it together

Violence against women is a violation of human rights, a public health problem, a crime and a form of discrimination.

Violence against women caused by gender inequality is any act that causes or may cause physical, sexual, psychological or economic harm or pain to women. Being threatened with harm, being forced to do something or being prevented from doing something, being locked in a place, being followed are all acts of violence. These acts of violence can take place at home, on the street, at school or outside and can be directed from family members, former or current spouse, partner, lover. These acts of violence can take place using digital tools and/or digital spaces. It may not always be easy to recognise that what is happening is violence; however, this is the first condition for combating violence. The aim of this seminar is to provide information about the forms of violence, the channels in which it occurs, the methods & tools to combat these acts, the mechanisms to be applied, and to talk about the ways to stop violence together in solidarity.

*The talk will be in Turkish. GE250/251 points will be given.
