Summary: The talk will be about Mr. Kıraç’s studies for the protection of important marine and coastal biological diversity of Turkey.

Biography:
Co-founder of several NGOs including Mediterranean Seal Research Group (AFAG) in 1987, Ankara Birdwatching Group (AKGT) in 1991, Underwater Research Society (SAD) in 1994, Seabird Research Group (DEZKUŞ) in 1994, Bird Research Society (KAD) in 1998, Lycian Birdwatching Group (LİKKUŞ) in 2011 and Simurg Bird Conservation Society in 2019. Functioned as the President of SAD in between 2010 and 2014, also worked as Board Member in several NGOs including SAD, Nature Society (Doğa Derneği) and Simurg Society from 1994 till now. Also worked in the Undersecretariat for Maritime Affairs as a government officer in between 1997 and 2015 and took part several maritime safety enhancement and marine environment protection projects as well as development of bilateral maritime agreements between Turkey and the relevant countries.
Designed and directed or played active roles in more than 40 conservation projects in Turkey. Published conference presentations and scientific & popular articles as well as books on Integrated Coastal Zone Management, protection of key biodiversity areas along Turkish coasts, research & conservation of Mediterranean monk seals and colonially breeding sea birds of Turkey. https://cemkirac.wordpress.com/yayinlar/
