Short Bio:
After graduating from the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences at Gazi University in 1982, Muharrem Sarıkaya began his career in journalism in 1979 at Ankara Barış Gazetesi before moving on to Hürriyet, where by 1982 he was promoted to political correspondent in the Ankara office of Hürriyet. Shortly after, his position changed to correspondent for Prime Ministry, then Parliament, and finally Presidency correspondent. In 1992 he was ennobled to Deputy Representative of Hürriyet Ankara Office, and held this position for 11 years. From November 2002 to 2009, apart from his columns, he held the position of Ankara Group Representative for the media outlets including Sabah Newspaper, ATV and Takvim Newspaper. Since 2009, he has been a columnist for Habertürk and the Representative for Ciner Media Group. Additionally, he has hosted several TV programs including, “Ankara’da Sabah” for ATV, “Muharrem Sarıkaya ile Gündem” for Habertürk. He holds many awards from respected journalism institutions such as Turkish Journalists Association’s “Journalist of the Year” and “Bülent Dikmener News Prize”. Sarıkaya currently teaches at TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Department of Political Science and International Relations.
