Blockchain, which is considered a breakthrough technology and is expected to be “the next big wave”, continues to receive attention from academy and industry. Blockchain and related techologies are comparable in many people’s eyes to the transformation that followed the development of internet. Therefore, a basic understanding of blockchain is essential. In addition to the technical aspects, blockchain participants should be aware of its legal implications. This is true especially with regard to smart contracts, which have the potential to revolutionize all sorts of transactions. The workshop offers the participants legal insight from leading scholars on the main issues arising from the use of blockchain technologies.
