About the Speaker: Prof. Bahar Güntekin completed her Ph.D. degree in Biophysics at Dokuz Eylül University in 2006. She worked as the vice director of Istanbul Kültür University Brain Dynamics Research Center between 2006 and 2016. She was appointed Professor of Biophysics in 2016 at the Istanbul Medipol University School of Medicine. Her research area mainly focuses on analyzing cognitive functions using EEG-Event Related Brain Oscillations in healthy controls and patients with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. She is the vice chair of Electrophysiology Professional Interest Area of Alzheimer’s Association (ISTAART) and elected chair for 2023-2025. She served as the advisory board member of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Health Sciences Research Group between 2019 and 2022. She is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Psychophysiology, Aging Brain, BioMedical Engineering OnLine, and Frontiers in Psychiatry, Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, Network Physiology. She is an Editorial Board member for Scientific Reports. She was awarded Outstanding Young Scientist by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in 2015 and Research Incentive Award by METU Parlar Foundation in 2016.
