Seven Bilkent faculty members have received Distinguished Young Scientist (BAGEP) awards for 2016. The awards are given by the Science Academy Association (Bilim Akademisi Derneği).
The award recipients are: Assoc. Prof. Selim Aksoy, Department of Computer Engineering; Asst. Prof. Bilge Baytekin, Department of Chemistry; Res. Asst. Prof. Seymur Cahangirov, Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, UNAM; Asst. Prof. E. Yegan Erdem, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Emrah Özensoy, Department of Chemistry; Asst. Prof. Emine Ülkü Sarıtaş Çukur, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; and Res. Asst. Prof. Urartu Özgür Şafak Şeker, Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, UNAM.
Under the BAGEP program, awardees receive 10,000 TL per year for a period of two years to support them in their research. The objective of the program is to recognize highly promising young scientists and assist them in furthering their investigations.
